Natural Remedies Your Grandmother Swore By

By Susan Du Plessis Remember the days of old when Grandmother strapped a warm mustard pack to our congested chests when we had a cold? Or used a warmed tea bag to rid pink eye, a clove of garlic to stop an earache, or prepared a mixture of chaparral and olive oil as a cure for itchy skin? I do. Distances between townships, limited funds, and the lack of readily available medical professionals and facilities all dictated that a woman be not only a wife, mother, and housekeeper, but doctor as well. Folklore healing practices, curative uses of herbs, and other medicinal “family secrets” were stealthily guarded and passed down from one generation to the next. Of course, some of yesteryear’s touted cures were not truly cures at all. Superstition and myth “remedies,” without any practical application, crept into the mix. Little by little and through the years, suspicion as to the validity of any natural, herbal remedy began to take root. For instance, witch doctor type practices such as hanging herbs that resembled tears around a child’s neck to help him cut teeth. “Reading” tea leaves to foretell future love interests, and assertions like placing certain spices under the pillow would improve memory, prejudiced many toward the genuine curative uses of herbs. That is why some modern day practitioners regard the medicinal use of herbs as “quackery;” nothing more than old-wives tales. There are, however, a growing number of otherwise conventional medical professionals who acknowledge what Grandmother knew all along. Natural, herbal remedies as a means to maintain good health and cure certain diseases are valid. Nature’s drug store is making a comeback. And why should that be surprising? After all, we — like plants — are organic. It is the synthetic drugs used today that were formulated to mimic their natural counterparts, and not the other way around. In days of old, there was no other way to treat illness and discomfort, help heal wounds, or cure bodily dysfunctions than with natural means. It was while living in tune with nature and studying wildlife that early man learned of the medicinal “powers” of herbs. Animals bitten by a poisonous snake survived after chewing snakeroot, a wounded bear rolled in mud to better heal and escape infection, and old, rheumatoid deer eased their misery and made joints more limber by resting under the therapeutic rays of the sun. Nature’s well worked out plan for good health and freedom from disease is observed in animals. It is people who have strayed from nature’s medicine chest to create man-made remedies — some of which are less effective, costly, and riddled with negative side-effects. By working with, and not against nature, we increase our chance of a more healthy life, while decreasing our risk of disease and premature bodily limitations and dysfunctions. A wealth of healing resources is there for the taking, if we but open our eyes to the possibilities available. To highlight this fact, let’s take a look at the multiple medicinal uses of just one herb, commonly regarded as a noxious or disposable weed. Sometimes found intercropped with corn and wheat in the Midwest United States, common burdock grows wild and vies for the sun and nutrients of the soil. Though routinely overlooked as a native weed, it nevertheless has the potential to gift the bearer greater health and ease skin afflictions when harvested for its root. In the herbal world, burdock is unsurpassed as a blood purifier. It is also the “king” of herbs in treating chronic skin problems such as eczema, acne, psoriasis, boils, syphilitic sores, and canker sores. Make a medicinal tea by bringing 1 quart of water to a boil. Reduce heat. Add 4 teaspoons cut, dried burdock root. Cover and simmer for 7 minutes. Remove from heat and let steep for 2 hours. Drink a minimum of 2 cups a day on an empty stomach, or more if problem persists. This concoction can also be made in a larger quantity and used topically to wash affected skin areas as needed. Mixed with catnip and made into a tea, burdock root is effective in clearing up stubborn kidney and gallstones. Bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add 2 tablespoons of chopped or cut fresh or dried burdock root. Reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes. Remove from heat. Add 3 teaspoons chopped or cut fresh or dried catnip leaf, and let steep for 1 hours, then strain. For each cup, add 1 teaspoon lemon juice and teaspoon pure maple syrup or blackstrap molasses (to sweeten). Drink slowly. Follow with 1 tablespoon of pure virgin olive oil 10 minutes later. Repeat this regimen 3 times a day. The tea helps to sooth irritated tissues, and helps break up or partially dissolve the stones. The olive oil acts as a lubricant to expel them from the body more easily. Important to the success of this remedy; digest no greasy, fried foods, soft drinks, refined carbohydrates (such as white flour or white sugar products), red meat, or poultry during the course of this treatment. Well-known lecturer, author and medical anthropologist, John Heinerman, Ph. D., of Salt Lake City, Utah, recommends the following: take the last cup of tea and spoonful of oil at night before retiring. Sleep on the right side, and prop a pillow under the armpit. Heinerman says this posture seems to expedite the removal of the stones from the body. Burdock root ground to a powder, when combined with dried red clover and dandelion root and packed in gel capsules, can help clear up acne and blemishes. Take two a day — morning and evening. Besides an aid in clearing problem skin when combined with burdock, red clover is also famous as an alternative cancer treatment, and is a natural blood thinner. Dandelion root was hailed as a miracle cure for warts and liver spot remover by the late Will Greer, who portrayed Grandpa Walton on “The Waltons”. In addition, Britain’s licensed medical herbalist, Dr. David Potterton noted that the high insulin content in dandelion root makes it a good sugar substitute for persons who suffer from diabetes mellitus. Many herbs have medicinal properties. An infusion made from elder-flower and water makes a mild astringent, and can safely be used for eye baths, while chamomile is excellent for eye compresses for inflammation of the eyelids. Garlic is an excellent natural antibiotic, and immune system builder. Cayenne is beneficial for circulation and stomach ailments. In fact, many of the herbs used for culinary purposes are not only great flavor enhancers, but medicinal as well. Besides herbs, many vegetables and fruits, especially organic, yield health and medicinal benefits. Celery juice is a natural diuretic and useful for persons with rheumatism or for those who want to lose weight. Cabbage has been shown effective in the fight against duodenal ulcers, and is a good source of calcium for those who must avoid dairy products. Radish is helpful for gall-bladder and liver ailments, and spinach improves the hemoglobin of the blood. Beets are excellent for certain conditions of the liver, and for improving blood hemoglobin. While undeniably health enhancing, natural or herbal remedies should never be used alongside synthetic or prescription drugs without the prescribing doctor’s knowledge. While grapefruit by itself can be effective in reducing high levels of cholesterol, for instance, it isn’t recommended in combination with certain prescribed medications also meant to lower cholesterol. In fact, many cholesterol-reducing medications warn not to consume grapefruit while taking that medication. Because many of nature’s offerings do have potent medical and health enhancing properties, become knowledgeable about the benefits and cautions of each. Like any medication, increasing concentrations, doses, or mixing one with another for medicinal purposes could be harmful instead of helpful. And mixing natural/herbal remedies with synthetic/prescription medications is not recommended, unless prescribed by a doctor as an enhancement. Instead of rebelling against nature, we can become more in tune with the gifts endowed by nature. The same health laws that apply to the animal kingdom also apply to man. We have something valuable to relearn from our wild counterparts. By joining hands with nature and embracing the natural we can enhance our health and increase our longevity. Internet Pharmacy - An Ideal Platform For Drug Purchase

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Alfred_Anderson] Alfred Anderson Getting the prescribed medicines from a nearby community drugstore had long been the only option for us. But now, Internet pharmacies have become a far better alternative. Internet pharmacies go a long way in meeting patients demands than what the traditional pharmacies could. A good online pharmacy entitles us to a host of benefits and services that the age-old community drugstores are incapable of providing in the near future. Online pharmacies outclass the traditional ones on more than a single ground. A lot of patients suffer from ailments that they do not wish to make public. It could even be embarrassing for some to publicly buy such drugs at a community drugstore. Conversely, they can buy similar drugs through an Internet pharmacy. The ordering process is easy, secure and confidential. No need to go out of the house to queue up near a drugstore; just fill in the online order form available in the internet pharmacys website and wait for the drug to be delivered right at your doorsteps. Most of us have a busy lifestyle. We need to take some time out for activities that are not a part of our daily routine. To get the drugs from a nearby drugstore, we need to find time to go out and buy them. Furthermore, there are patients who are too weak to move out. Such patients need to depend on others help to procure drugs from the nearest store. An Internet pharmacy, on the other hand, not only save our time but also reduces the effort needed to go to a drugstore. Whether at home, office, or anywhere else, all we need is to login to an online pharmacy website and place an order. The cost of medicines is an essential point of consideration for the patients. Online pharmacies offer drugs at a far cheaper rate than that of the traditional ones. The difference in price is due to the high overhead costs incurred by the community drugstores. Conversely, an online pharmacy does not have similar magnitude of infrastructure or operational costs. Furthermore, online pharmacies operating from Canada offer attractive discounts as compared to others. This is due to the price regulations of prescription medicines by the Canadian government. Such discounts can be as high as 70%! Safety, security, confidentiality, low prices and good product quality is what drives most patients to login to an online pharmacy. However patients should be careful to check out the legitimacy of the pharmacy. Internet pharmacies have become a booming business and a lot of people try to cash in this opportunity by promising the best and offering the worst. Legal online pharmacies are authorized by an external authoritative agency. Most legitimate Internet pharmacies provide a link to such an agency in support of their authenticity. People should check out for such links. Apart from that, it is always better to stay away from pharmacies that have broken links and look badly managed. Such pharmacies, in all probability, are the ones to stay away from. Online [http://www.buylowdrugs.com/] Canadian drug pharmacies are truly the best place to order medicines from; however, just do a bit of research beforehand to crosscheck its legitimacy. Alfred Anderson has rich experience in the field of online brand marketing. His interests includes Internet marketing and research on emerging online business trends. Traditional Chinese Herbs for Modern Health

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Kah_Joon_Liow] Kah Joon Liow Traditional Chinese herbs are given according to their Qi and Blood energy. Thats right, each herb has a particular energy and when matched with the energy of the person, can restore the persons health. So there are two elements here: energy of the personenergy of the herbs And they are combined on a case-by-case basis according to the requirements of the individual. The practice of Chinese medicine generally revolves around cooling what is hot and warming what is cold. Chinese herbs are instrumental in balancing the energies of a person, and have been proven over the centuries to be both safe and effective. Chinese Herbs and Their Energies The energy effects of Chinese herbs have been observed by skilled Taoist and Buddhist physicians for centuries. By closely examining individual substances, their characteristics were recorded. How its done is pretty amazing. A physician would take a single substance and through Qigong (qi exercises) and meditation, feel the energetic qualities of the substance. In this way, each part of a plant seed, root, leave, bark and each animal shell or insect and their qualities was methodically classified. When giving herbs, three things must be considered: What is the energy of the herb is it warming or cooling? What is the effect of its energy increasing or decreasing? To which organ or part of the body is energy directed? Chinese Herbal Formula By mixing herbs in a balanced combination, Chinese herbal formulas can be used to remedy a variety of conditions. Such formulas are known as patents. Several herbs together have a stronger effect than a single herb. At the same time, formulas provide greater safety because an individual herb with a particularly strong energy, can be offset by other herbs. If youve been to a Chinese herbalist before, youll have seen first hand herbs being prescribed. This is the way Chinese herbal medicine is practiced. Even though acupuncture may be more well-known in the West as a procedure of TCM, herbal medicine can actually treat people quickly and more effectively in some cases. Chinese herbs have strong effects but they are gentle in their action and nourishes both the blood and qi. In China, they are part of the normal diet, as medicinal plants are frequently use in boiling soups and other forms of Chinese cooking. Homoeopathy For Bad Breath

By Peter Bishop The protein in the food debris are degraded by the anaerobic bacteria present in the mouth.Offenssive odor is produced due to release of some gases like hydrogen sulphide, skatol ect due to bacterial activity.Formation of a thin sticky membrane on the tongue favoures bacterial growth.Bactrera are also seen in the crypts of tonsils ,dental caries, dental pockets ect.Bad breath is associated with oral hygiene, caries, gingivitis, tonsillitis, tonsillar plaques, food habits, water intake ,tobacco chewing, stomach and liver diseases and ect. Homoeopathy is a system of medicine introduced by a german physician Dr Samuel Hahnemann.Homoeopathy treats the diseased individual as a whole rather than treating diseased parts or organs. The physical, mental, emotional, social spheres of a person is considered for a permanent cure. This system believes that the diseases are caused due to the derangement of vital force which is an invisible power in every individual. In a healthy state the vital force maintains the equilibrium of mind body and soul .During this man will have normal sensations and functions. When the vital force gets affected there will be external manifestations in the form of signs and symptoms. The imbalance in the body functions makes a shelter for forign organisms(bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoa ect) and allow them to proliferate &produce so called diseases.Homoeopathy believes thet the real desease comes before the bacteria & viruses, hence the root cause of the disease has to be treated for a permenent cure. The antibacterial and antiviral agents only remove the secondary causes mentioned above. Diseases are produced by noxious morbific agents called Miasms which are dynamic influences which affect the vital force. There are mainly three miasms PSORA ,SYPHILIS&SYCOSIS. These three causes are accepted by other schools of medicine but called by different names. Psora causes functional disturbances, syphilis cause structural changes in the form of destructions and sycosis causes changes in the form of overgrowth. These three miasms can act individually or in combined form producing different disease conditions. To treat bad breath with homoeopathic medicine is easy if correct remedy in suitable dose is given. In the homoeopathic medical repertory by Dr Robin Murphy there are 140 homoeopathic drugs mentioned for bad breath. So just giving one drug for bad breath may not give good result. To come to a correct remedial diagnosis we should have the symptomatology of the person .It is the total symptoms of a person which includes mental generals, physical generals, particular symptoms ect.Bad breath is considered as a physical general symptom .Eventhough it comes only from a part of the body it affects the whole individual. Symptoms related with appetite, thirst, bowels ect are included in physical generals. All signs and symptoms (mental&physical)of the person is taken in detail.Knowledge about past illneses, family history of diseases, food & bowel habits, relation to climatic changes and constitution ect are noted down in a systematic order. Mental symptoms: example: fear, anxiety, depression, anger, jealousy and ect…. Physical symptoms: example: Body makeup, appetite, thirst, desires, aversions, bowels, urination, sleep, taste, nature of smell, discharges any abnormal sensations like pain, burning, climatic changes, thermal relations, and ect…. Peculiar uncommon symptoms: This is the speciality of homoeopathic system of medicine. For the selection of a suitable remedy these symptoms are very important. Common symptoms which are seen almost in all patients are least important. particular/local signs&symptoms: This include signs &symptoms related to body parts &organs. example: Coating on the tongue, nature of mucus membrane of oral cavity, tonsils, gums, teeth, ulcers, discolourations ect are considered here. Systemic & general physical examination:- Bad breath can be due to various systemic and disorders.Hence all systems ( respiratory system ,digestive system, nervous system, cardio vascular system and ect )and parts from head to foot should be examined. provisional disease diagnosis; Here probable diseases are diagnosed. In homoeopathy disease diagnosis is not that much important for the selection of a remedy, but needed for general management and to know the prognosis. Investigations: This includes lab investigations and other methods to find out any other major illnesses. Final disease diagnosis: After doing all investigations the disease is diagnosed. Remedial diagnosis: This is the most importnant part as far as homoeopathy is concerned. For this the selected symptoms are arranged in a systematic order on the basis of importance. symptoms are analysed to find out the importance of each symptom for the selection of a remedy.Remedies are selected on the basis of similarity.[the basic principle of homoeopathy is 'similia similibus curenter' means like cures like.A medicine which can produce some symptoms in a healthy man can be used as a remedy to trea the similar symptoms in a diseased person. Each homoeopathic drug is proved on healthy human beings and the symptoms collected by this process(drug proving) is written in meteria medica.] Suitable remedies are diagnosed by a process called repertorisation. Here books called repertories are used. Repertory is the index of symptoms of materia medica(books which contain the symptoms of drugs).Nowadays computer softwares are used for repertorisalion.By this process we will get the remedies covering maximum important symptom of the patient. Amoung this group of remedies the most suitable remedy is selected by referring various books and history of the patient..The selected medicine is given in suitable potency & dose. ANTI MIASMATIC TREATMENT: The root cause of disease is miasms which should be eradicated using suitable anti miasmatic drugs.Every drug can eradicate the miasm if there is symptom similarity.there are anti psoric drugs, anti syphilitic drugs and anti sycotic drugs. After diagnosing the miasm suitable anti miasmatic drug has to be given to complete the cure. [In homoeopathy medicines are prepared from different sources like minerals, plants, animals, toxins, diseased parts ect. Medicines are prepared from these substances by a special process called potentisation. Here the soluble substances are potentised by diluting with spirit and insoluble substances by grinding with sugar of milk. The crude drug substance is first mixed with a calculated quantity of spirit and water and kept for few days .From this mixture extract is taken and is called mother tincture(denoted as Q).From this mother tincture dilutions are prepared by potentisation.Potentisation is a mathematical process by which the quantity of original drug substance reduces but medicinal power increases. Depending upon the ratio of quantity of drug substance and vehicle(spirit or sugar of milk)there are different scales for this process. Each scale has got different potencies which indicate power of medicine.Example in decimal scale 3x,6x.12x ect.in centisimal scale there is 30c,200c ect,in LM poteny there are 0/1,0/2,0/3 ect.potency is written after the name of every medicine] Same medicine is available in different potencies. Suitable potency is selected according to so many facters like sevearity, depth of disease, condition of the patient ,nature of disease ,type of symptoms, age of patient and ect. My Awesome Blind Date

By Morgan Hamilton I would usually refuse whenever a friend would offer to fix me up on a blind date. However, there was one occasion when I decided to give in when a friend of mine told me that she had the perfect guy for me and wanted to fix me up on a blind date. It would be a double date, with my friend and her boyfriend. I contemplated backing out several times, but I finally agreed to meet the three of them at a local restaurant. However, I was incredibly nervous and convinced that this guy would not be my prince charming. I saw- that my friend was waiting for me as I entered the lobby. She told me that the guys were already sitting down at the bar having a drink while waiting for a table. My friend also told me that my blind date was absolutely perfect for me and is looking forward to meeting me. I was unconvinced that he was perfect for me considering that every guy that I date is always different from the previous one. I didn’t even know that I had a particular type. My friend informed me that we share the same interests and hobbies and that he was tall, dark and handsome. I just rolled my eyes and let her lead me over to the bar where my blind date was waiting for me. I was totally captivated from the moment my date stood up to greet me. He was definitely pleasant to look at and he kissed my hand softly when he said hello. We engaged in some small talk after he bought me a drink. I could not believe that my date was so handsome and that I was on a blind date. My date spoke intelligently and seemed very passionate about life. We barely remembered that our friends were there after talking for a few minutes. He kept my attention for the entire meal and made me laugh. I was impressed that he had a sense of humor to go along with his brains and good looks. I could tell that he had the type of personality that would challenge me. I knew that my blind date had turned out perfectly by the end of the evening. That perfect date took place about five years ago. I cant help but smile when I remember that date and look over at my husband sitting next to me on the couch. My blind date was definitely turned out to be perfect for me. Indoor Air Quality - Air Quality Testing - The Simple Test That You Can Do Yourself, Today!

By Tom Downward Why clean kids get sick more often! People spend 80% of their time indoors. We breathe normally about 10 times a minute. Multiply that times 1440 minutes a day. This comes to over 14,000 breaths each day of quality air. If we can survive for a week without food or water yet barely four minutes without breathing, indoor air quality is not a subtle point. Respiratory problems are at an all time high. Note: Liability is a major Business concern. Indoor air pollution is considered a major environmental problem. Allergies in children are growing at an alarming rate. It is believed this is due to early exposure to allergens, a significant part of indoor air pollution. How do you know if you have an indoor Air Quality problem? Using this simple test is arguably the cheapest, reliable test that you can use. This simple test will help you identify specific air quality problems (if they exist) that some air purifiers are just not designed to eliminate. Known air contaminants exist in three categories. (1) Particulate or dust (2) Gases - odors, and (3) Microbial (bacteria and mold) Most homeowners and business owners do use air filters. And they do a fair to good job on (1) dusts in the air. However, they usually pay no attention to (2) gases or (3) airborne microbes. Why? They aren’t designed for it. This information is presented as a resource. The purpose is to help you spend very little money and maybe no money on the wrong air purifier AND help you reliably test the air that you and your family breathe. This guide will also help you evaluate the results of that test. For the purpose of these tests, microbial growth is defined as aerobic bacteria, molds, and yeast. The main tool in all three types of testing is the Petri Dish. What is a Petri Dish? The Petri Dishes are sterile covered plastic dishes with a nutrient rich media placed inside on which microbes will readily grow. These are available in kit form for about $15 or so. You can make your own kit. The test method has a name; it is called Total Count. This test method is not used to identify specific microbial species, but does allow you to identify the approximate total number of aerobic bacteria, molds, and yeasts present in a given sample. 1. Obtain a new sterile T-salt Petri Dish. 2. Place the dish in a room to be tested. Authors note: Position the dish in an area that will allow a representative sample to be taken. That usually means to place the dish away from ventilation ducts and doorways (but not always). File cabinets and desktops are good places for dish placement. Avoid getting close to the ceiling or the floor, thats critical. 3. Petri Dishes may be used directly in duct works if you need this type of testing. 4. Remove the Petri Dish cover and pour the liquid nutrient into the base of the dish. Gently swirl the dish to ensure the bottom is covered. 5. Start your timing (use 30 or 60 minutes; I always use 60 minutes). 6. Once the exposure period is up, place the cover on the dish and incubate the dish for a period of 48 hours at room temperature. If you place the dish in a warmer environment, say a sunlit window sill, (80 to 100 degrees) the count can be made after 24 hours has expired. 7. After the incubation period, count all the growths on the dish. When using T-salt Dishes (used to make counting easier), the bacteria will appear as red dots or colonies. Fuzzy colonies may be present and that usually indicates mold. White colonies usually indicate yeasts. Keep in mind that none, one or all these conditions may exist. At this point you have some reliable information. Now, look for the source of air quality problems. Example; where there is mold there is water. Find it. And look for the BEST solution. Do you buy an air purifier? Perhaps but, decisions based on any idea that does not include a solid test cannot be relied upon to be a good decision. T. Cutlery - One Spoon or Two

By Anastasia Phocas If I write born with a silver cutlery in my mouth all of you will laugh at me whereas you will accept the statement born with a silver spoon in my mouth even-though both words carry the similar meaning. What is Cutlery? It is the name derived from the term Cutler who is a person skilled in making knives. Any hand utensil used to prepare, serve and to eat food is defined as Cutlery. There used be a train called “Master Cutler” which was running between London Marylebone and Sheffield centre of cutlery manufacture in England during the 1950 and late 1960s. The Americans call their cutlery, silverware or tableware which includes assorted knives and cutting instruments most of them made in silver. The term cutlery includes fork, knife and spoon. Traditional cutlery of good quality was made from silver even though steel was used for more utilitarian knives. Cheaper cutlery was made from pewter especially spoons. Find more info at www.justcutlery.info Twentieth century saw stainless steel and plastic being replaced by the electroplated nickel silver (EPNS) used in the nineteenth century as a cheaper substitute for silver cutlery. Plastic cutlery is favored and used by airlines, fast food and takeaway for the food provided by them. Knork (knife and fork) Spork (spoon and fork) are the fancy names for utensils having combined functions. In the Middle Ages cutlery trade was given greater importance. London Livery Company had one group named as Worshipful Company of Cutlers reflecting the importance of this trade. A collection of seven to eight kitchen knives form a cutlery set. They may also include steak knives but the foundation of a traditional cutlery set is the knives used for food preparation. A cutlery set may cost as little as $40 and as high as $800 or more which comprises of chefs knife, utility knife, paring knife, bread knife, cleaver, carving knife, santoku knife, boning knife, kitchen shear and a honing rod to straighten the edges of the knives. Upkeep of the cutlery is by washing them immediately after use and drying. Store them in a place which is beyond the reach of children. Dry your cutlery immediately, and then put away your knives so that your kitchen is as safe as possible. The best place to store cutlery is in a knife block or with each knife in its own sheath. If you place all your knives in one silverware drawer, they will likely harm each other as they knock each other. Anastasia Phocas is a proud contributing author. Find more articles here. Enlightened AIDA Marketing for Photographers

By Chuck Groot Enlightened AIDA Marketing for Photographers By Chuck Groot AIDA = tried but true, the famous formula that makes your ads, your advertising literature, your marketing work. Attention you must get your reader or listeners attention. We forget that we are not dealing with a captive audience; people are allowing us in to their heads. So in order to get them to pay attention to what we have to say, we need to get their attention. The best way to do this is with a snappy, hard-hitting, headline. One way I work on getting headlines is by writing at least twenty down on a piece of paper. After the first five or six it gets really hard but eventually, the cream will rise to the top and by the twentieth I have a winner. Are you walls picture poor? Is your house crying out to be made a home? Pictures so crisp you can smell the bacon Art directors will never forget your face Interest once the prospective client has been enticed by the bait so to speak, we need to keep their interest. Tell a story about your product, you should mention every benefit, every detail that sets you apart, everything that would entice you to buy from you. Often you have only one chance with this particular customer. The house may not have been crying but Mrs. Schmidt certainly was. Her one and only son just got married and now that he had moved with his beautiful bride to his new posting she spends hours gazing at the pictures we took. A month after the wedding she wrote us and said that every time she looks at the beautiful portraits we created its as if she relives the entire wedding day all over again. Dear Mr. Groot, Thank you, thank you, and thank you. The portraits of Wolfgang and Sarah are of such high quality and so real, that I feel the warmth of the hugs, I can taste the food, I can hear the music, I can see the couple walking down the garden path, and the emotion of the love caught in each picture carries me back to my own wedding. And I must say that the album itself is so beautiful I have never ever seen anything like it. But I must say that I am most impressed with you and your staff and how you conducted yourselves on the day of the wedding. I couldnt believe how professional you looked, how efficient you performed, and how each and every shot you created was like a mini love story. Also the level of service before, during, and after the wedding was far beyond that of any company that I had ever dealt with. I love my parents album and would highly recommend Old Masters Studio to anyone. Bring this note with you when you come and you will receive a special bonus gift. Easy to do marketing activity; create a letter like the one above and bring it to five (5) complimentary businesses (florist, jeweler, hotel, church etc) and ask them to hand it out to the next couple that comes to them to talk about their wedding. Make sure that when you printout the letters somewhere on the bottom of the page in little letters or a code you identify where the letter came from. (i.e. St. Josephs Parish might be 10-18-04-1 the date you brought the letter and St. Joes is number one on your business tracking guide) and explain that for each customer that comes to you with this letter you will give them $50 to do whatever they wish with it. (This is important if you go to a church, because the clergy may have a problem taking the money for them selves but will gladly give out the letter and use the money for the poor box). Marketing does work. You must market yourself everyday by way of an ad in the newspaper, a magazine, a direct mail piece, your website, your email list, your telephone directory, or your business card etc. You must have your name, address, phone number, and web address on every piece of literature you hand out.
